This wild, full ride of a month is brought to a close on a high note as writer and artist Sheila Heti—one of the more thoughtful at work today—visits with a remarkable new book, How Should a Person Be? A Novel from Life (Henry Holt). Cast as a novel that very much tells the story of Sheila, seeking to re-gain her grip on things—to more fully grow into life—after a failed marriage and uncertainties with her work. "A book that risks everything—shatters every rule we women try to follow in order to be taken seriously—and thus is nothing less than groundbreaking; in form, sexually, relationally, and as a major literary work .. Complex, artfully messy, and hilarious." – Miranda July. Sheila Heti's other books include a collection of stories, The Middle Stories; a children's book, We Need a Horse, and a work of conversational philosophy (with Misha Glouberman), The Chairs Are Where the People Go.
