Presented by NWAA, Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance, and The Stranger. Ina Garten, known to her millions of fans as the "Barefoot Contessa," is beloved for her simple, straightforward approach to cooking and effortless take on entertaining. Her recipes are built around big, bold flavors but won't have you slaving in the kitchen. Her fuss-free party ideas allow hosts to impress while actually enjoying their own get-togethers. This afternoon she'll appear in conversation with noted Seattle food writer, chef and restauranteur Greg Atkinson. Following the program, Ina Garten will sign her cookbooks in the lobby. A full selection of her cookbooks, which include The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, Barefoot in Paris, and many more (from Clarkston Potter), will be available for sale courtesy of Elliott Bay Book Company. (A brand-new cookbook, Barefoot Contessa Foolproof, is due out at the end of October.) Tickets ($52, $38, $24) and information are available via www.seattlesymphony.org or (206) 215-4747. Benaroya Hall is at 200 University Street.
