SISTER SPIT: THE NEXT GENERATION featuring MICHELLE TEA, EILLEEN MYLES and FRIENDS Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m.
The Elliott Bay reading room space takes a step to its pre-bookstore rootswhen for some years it was a clubin serving as the venue for this stop on Sister Spit's current national tour. That tour makes its appearance here tonight with esteemed, established writer Michelle Tea and poet Eileen Myles joined by six twentysomething queer "female/ish" writers, including contributors published in the anthology Baby, Remember My Name (Seal), edited by original Sister Spit Rambling Road Show co-founder Michelle Tea. Ms. Tea will read as part of the night, and serve as m.c. New York poet/novelist Eileen Myles will also read, with her newest books being Cool for You (Soft Skull), and Sorry, Tree (from Seattle's Wave Books). Also on tap are award-winning poet Ali Leibegott, author of the novel IHop Papers (Carroll & Graf), Rhiannon Argo, Tamara Llosa-Sandor, Christy C. Road, Nicole J. Georges, and Robin Akimbo. Michelle Tea's other books include Rose of No Man's Land (Harcourt). Special $10 admission charge for this evening, handled at the door by Sister Spit. Proceeds help fund the tour.
