Our Global Issues & Ethics Book Group is devoted to discussing books that cover the most relevant topics of our everyday lives. Our selection for September is Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA by Tim Weiner. Weiner's National Book Award Winner is an epic sixty year history that Mother Jones describes as, "...bungled covert operations, blatant criminality, lying to the public, and breathtaking incompetence." Walter Issacson says it is"...a fascinating and deeply scary book." Weiner documents in every detail how profound the failures of the CIA since WW II are and what it means for U.S. national security.
