GRANT COGSWELL

07/02/2012 7:00 pm
Up from his present Mexico City home—where he runs Under the Volcano Books, an English-language literary press, among other things—is former Seattle poet and civic instigator Grant Cogswell. He's been out and about with screenings of Stephen Gyllenhaal's film, Grassroots, a film his close-to-the-ground political campaigns. He is also here this evening with a new book of poems, The Dream of the Cold War: Poems 1998 - 2008 (Under the Volcano), a volume at once political as well as poetical. "A poet whose work I love. One of the few successful attempts to drag Whitman out to our remote coast and make him live in a dirty downtown hotel." - Matthew Stadler.
